Once you've tried the international varieties, you can go a little further and step into indigenous territory and meet another world.

The term indigenous grapes refers to grape varieties that are grown in the land and represent the country. Therefore, you can experience unique and individual wines that are not grown so much in other countries.

At first glance, it may be difficult to choose a grape variety that you have never heard of, but Daniel's wine shop selects meaningful and attractive indigenous varieties.

Among the indigenous cultivars, the first ones I would like you to know are Shalva, Sugihara and Feteasca Regala for white. The red varieties are Negur de Dragashani, Novak and Feteasca Neagra.

Shalva is an indigenous breed of Romania, originating from the province of Vlancia in the Moldova region. It is a breed produced by crossing Tamaioasa Romaneasca and Italian Riesling , and was approved as an indigenous breed of Romania in 1972. Today it is mainly grown in the Kotesti region.

Zghihara de Fushi produces very food-friendly wines. Citrus and green apple aromas, fresh acidity and lively character are the hallmarks of Zghihara de Fushi .

Feteasca Regala is the most widely planted grape variety in Romania . Produces elegant white wines that are fresh, fruity and slightly floral. It has a solid skeleton and is characterized by wonderfully supporting various dishes.

The Negur de Dragashani variety is an indigenous variety with high potential in Romania. Created by crossing the Romanian Negur Valtos with the Georgian Saperavi , it was first officially registered in 1993.

Novac is an indigenous variety with high potential in Romania. Wines made from Novak grapes have a deep ruby color, full body, firm acidity and tannins. Suitable for both barrel and bottle aging. It is closest to Cabernet Sauvignon among international varieties. However, unlike Cabernet, not only the skin of the grapes, but also the flesh is red.

Feteasca Neagra is a unique and attractive grape variety with a voluminous fruit flavor and spicy elements. Romania's most potential black grapes have become internationally recognized and attracting attention.
