The word "Sauvignon" comes from the French word "Sauvage", which means "wild". An early ripening and vigorous grape variety. It is characterized by small fruits, has fresh acidity, and basically grows well in cool production areas.
The most noticeable aspect of Sauvignon Blanc is its aroma. It is a very unique breed, showing various expressions depending on the cultivation environment and brewing method. The aroma of Sauvignon Blanc grown in cool regions tends to have nuances such as grass and citrus. Sauvignon Blancs from warmer regions, on the other hand, typically exhibit pleasant aromas of grapefruit, white peach and passion fruit.
Romanian Sauvignon Blanc
A very popular grape variety in Romania. It is mainly grown in Transylvania. The total planted area is 5,614 hectares, larger than the Chardonnay variety. 4.5% of the world's Sauvignon Blanc is made in Romania, and out of 100 Sauvignon Blanc wines, 4-5 are Romanian.
Wines included in the set
I chose Sauvignon Blanc from the Transylvania region for this set. Bright and sharp, it is easy to match with cooking, and the elegance is perfect. Recommended for Japan.
