Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc is a grape variety beloved by wine enthusiasts around the world. Many opt for this vibrant and crisp variety when seeking a refreshing wine. Its invigorating taste makes it a popular choice, especially during summer. It's a grape variety overflowing with charm and is highly versatile and easy to pair with dishes.
The origin of "Sauvignon" comes from the French word "Sauvage," meaning "wild." It's an early ripening and vigorous grape variety characterized by small berries and high acidity, thriving particularly well in cooler climates.
One of the most distinctive features of Sauvignon Blanc is its aroma. Sauvignon Blanc, which grew in cooler regions, often exhibits nuances reminiscent of grass, citrus, and tomato leaves. At the same time, those from warmer climates typically offer pleasant aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, and passion fruit.
Romanian Sauvignon Blanc
Approximately 5% of the world's Sauvignon Blanc is cultivated in Romania, making it one of the most loved grape varieties by Romanians. With a total cultivation area of 5,614 hectares (2022 data), it surpasses Chardonnay in acreage.
It is primarily cultivated in the Transylvania region, with some exceptional examples from the Black Sea Coast in the Dobrogea region.
In this bundle, we prepared three very distinct examples. One typical Sauvignon Blanc from Transylvania, one cultivated on limestone soil in the Dealu Mare region, and one from the Black Sea coast, fermented with wild yeasts only.
Recommended for all Sauvignon Blanc lovers in Japan 🥂
