Tamaioasa Romaneasca
Tamaioasa Romaneasca
Tamaioasa Românească, a white grape originally from Greece, is believed to have been brought to present-day Romania by the ancient Greeks, with over 2,000 years of cultivation history in the region. Due to its deep roots in Romanian viticulture, it is often considered an indigenous Romanian variety.
In France, it is known as Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, and in Germany, it is referred to as Rumanische Weihrauchtraube.
This grape variety produces wines in a wide range of styles, from dry to sweet, and from fresh wines to noble rot wines.
Tamaioasa Românească wines are known for their aromas of peach, pear, basil, honey, melon, and pineapple.
Dry wines pair well with appetizers, while sweet wines make a fantastic match with spicy dishes or desserts. An excellent dry example is Artisan Tamaioasa Romaneasca Sec, from Sahateni winery, and a superb sweet example is Artisan Tamaioasa Romaneasca Sweet, from the same producer.
