🇲🇩 Moldovan Wine
The Republic of Moldova has a long-standing tradition of wine production and is known as one of the oldest wine-producing countries in the world. Located in Eastern Europe, Moldova benefits from favorable geographic and climatic conditions for growing grapevines and producing quality wines.
Moldova’s vineyards stretch across rolling hills with fertile soils and a moderate continental climate. The most renowned wine regions in Moldova include Codru, Valul lui Traian, Ștefan Vodă, and Purcari. These regions are famous for their high-quality grapes and wines with distinct aromas and flavor profiles.
Moldova is famous for its red wines, particularly those made from grape varieties such as Fetească Neagră, Rară Neagră (Băbească Neagră), and Saperavi. Moldovan red wines are appreciated for their rich dark fruit aromas, smooth tannins, and balanced body.
In addition, Moldova produces high-quality white wines, such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Italian Riesling, and Aligoté. These white wines are known for their freshness, floral aromas, and fruity notes.
The wine industry in Moldova has modernized and evolved over recent decades, with producers investing in state-of-the-art technology and sustainable viticulture practices.
