In the Villány region of Hungary, the Blauer Portugieser grape variety is incredibly popular, with most wineries cultivating it. It’s a grape that appears in various local stories and songs, making it a cherished symbol among the people.

Label message

"Macska" means "cat" in Hungarian. This wine series is inspired by an old local tale of a devil who fell in love, with each of Villány’s five wines representing a different character from the story. The cat embodies qualities of kindness, approachability, and universal charm.

Tasting notes

Nose

The aroma is fruit-driven, with notes of sour cherry and plum.

Palate

Soft and easy-drinking, this wine boasts a beautiful balance of fresh fruit flavors and acidity. It’s friendly and charming, with gentle tannins that make for a smooth experience.

Food pairing

Pairs well with lightly seasoned Hungarian dishes, Italian appetizers, and pasta.
