DeMatei Winery

DeMatei Winery, an extraordinary establishment nestled in the heart of Romania's prestigious Dealu Mare region, is a hidden gem that seamlessly blends tradition, passion, and cutting-edge winemaking techniques to craft some of the most revered Romanian wines.

The winery spans 80 hectares of distinctive terroir on the legendary slopes of Tegăneanu and Zorilor hills. The vines are over 40 years old and are a testament to Romania’s rich viticultural heritage.

The land’s unique composition of clay, gravel, and limestone imparts the wines with remarkable aging potential, a characteristic best exemplified by the acclaimed Prince Matei.

The wines from DeMatei Winery are among the most highly regarded Romanian wines internationally, having won numerous awards at competitions around the world.

This summer (2024), six DeMatei wines were reviewed by the international critic James Suckling and received scores that further solidify Romania's position on the global map of fine wines. Currently, two of the wines that received 93 points (Patima După Matei Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 and Patima După Matei Fetească Neagră 2020) can be enjoyed in Japan as well.

Tasting these wines is more than just an experience—it is an invitation to explore some of the finest offerings Romania has to share.
