Description

Babić is a native Croatian variety that originates from the ancient Bucavac vineyard, declared a UNESCO monument. The Babić vineyard of the Testament winery was planted in 2008 and is located on a steep slope overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

The area’s climate is influenced by the permanent breeze of the Adriatic Sea, which gives a unique character to the wines produced here. The vine grows in difficult conditions, in soils dominated by limestone (80%). For this reason, although the production of grapes has a low yield, their quality is exceptional.

Tasting notes

  • Appearance
Clear, beautiful ruby color with medium intensity.
  • Nose
The nose is rich, dominated by aromas of well-ripened red and black cherries. We also distinguish hints of strawberry chewing gum, spice and a light breeze of mint.
  • Palate
We are dealing with a fruity, medium-bodied red wine with pronounced freshness and firm structure. The balance of the elements in the wine is excellent. The medium tannins, firm acidity and strong fruit character support each other, resulting in a pleasing harmony.
  • Food pairing
A wine that pairs well with a wide variety of dishes. Prosciutto, mature cheeses, hamburger, sarmale, lentil soup with smoked ham, goulash with yogurt, roast pork, pasta with meat sauce, beef stew.
