Introductory notes

Vinars is an extremely high-quality brandy produced in Romania. “Vinars" means "burning wine" in Romanian (Vin = wine; ars = burning). The history of Vinars dates back to the 13th century, making it a drink with a rich tradition.

The wine produced in the Jidvei region is distilled and aged for over five years in oak barrels made from local oak trees.

While typical brandies worldwide are made from grape pomace, Jidvei’s Vinars uses only first-press grape juice. It uses only grapes as raw materials, without any added sugar, acid, flavorings, or colorings. This luxurious brandy is crafted solely by the unique terroir of Transylvania, refined over 800 years of tradition and know-how.

  • Appearance
    Clear, elegant amber color.
  • Nose
    The first sniff shows very fruity aromas, followed by nuances of caramel, chocolate, spices, vanilla, and walnuts.
  • Palate
    The taste is very rich, with nuances of caramel, walnuts, vanilla, and chocolate. It has a well-balanced sweetness and acidity, allowing for a long and elegant finish. 
  • Food pairing
    Brandy enhances the deliciousness of meals and is suitable not only as a post-meal drink but also as a digestif. It pairs very well with richly flavored dishes seasoned with butter. In Romania, it is a common practice to pair brandy with chocolate-based desserts, chocolate ice cream, or vanilla ice cream, making it a popular choice as a premium dessert beverage.
