Overview
Viile Metamorfosis Rosé 2023 is a dry rosé wine from the Dealu Mare region of Romania, produced by Vitis Metamorfosis in collaboration with Italy’s Antinori family. It is a blend of approximately 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented in stainless steel at controlled low temperature (around 17°C) to preserve its delicate fruity aromas. The result is an organic rosé with a vibrant character, crafted under the guidance of winemaker Fiorenzo Rista.
Who is Véraisonia?
The label was created in collaboration with the young artist Beres Miyabi and portrays a woman of mixed heritage, symbolizing the encounter of diverse cultures from around the world. The message behind the artwork, “Beauty lies in being different,” is dedicated to those of mixed backgrounds who often face challenges in societies that still struggle to fully embrace diversity.
Miyabi, herself the daughter of a Romanian father and a Japanese mother, drew inspiration from her own experiences growing up in Japan. As a child, she endured moments of exclusion and subtle forms of bullying because of her different appearance.
She aims to shed light on an uncomfortable truth: while Japanese people are known for their kindness, Japanese society can at times be unwelcoming to those who do not naturally blend in. For individuals of mixed heritage, standing out is inevitable—and in Japan, standing out can sometimes be painful. Bullying in such contexts is rarely overt; it is quiet, systemic, and insidious, making it difficult to confront or even identify.
Despite these challenges, Miyabi believes that these issues should be spoken about more openly, without fear or shame. She hopes for a world where differences are not merely tolerated but appreciated, for it is often precisely those differences that bring true beauty and depth to life.
The character on the label, Véraisonia, takes her name from the French word “véraison,” used in viticulture to describe the moment when grapes begin to ripen and change color. The name carries a powerful metaphor: even someone who feels different or comes from a unique background can mature, blossom, and bring new beauty to the world if given the chance.
Véraisonia represents a bridge between cultures and a link between generations: the young who seek growth and recognition, and the older, more traditional generations. Through her art, Miyabi extends a message of hope and encouragement to everyone who feels different or struggles because of it. Her reminder is simple yet profound: beauty lies in being different.

Tasting notes
Appearance
In the glass, the wine displays a bright salmon-pink color with subtle pastel orange hues toward the rim. The clarity is excellent, giving it a vibrant, luminous appearance. This attractive hue, reminiscent of light salmon with rosy undertones, is inviting and typical of a well-crafted rosé.
Nose
The aromatic profile is fruity and expressive. On the nose, it reveals delicate yet intense red-berry aromas, dominated by notes of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, and red currant. These fresh red fruit scents are intertwined with a subtle floral hint, all carried by the wine’s lively freshness. Overall the nose is clean, youthful, and inviting, bursting with ripe berry character (especially strawberry and cherry) while remaining elegant.
Palate
On the palate, Viile Metamorfosis Rosé 2023 is dry, crisp, and refreshing, with medium (+) acidity that gives a mouth‐watering, lively character. It is medium-bodied, and the 13% alcohol is well-integrated, imparting just a gentle warmth without overwhelming the fresh fruit flavors. Juicy red fruit notes (echoing strawberry and raspberry) carry through on the taste, balanced by a vibrant acidity that contributes to a sense of harmony and food-friendliness. The texture is smooth with a slight mineral streak, and there is a pleasing persistence to the flavor. The finish is clean and of moderate-plus length, leaving a crisp, fruity aftertaste. Overall, the palate is characterized by its bright freshness, balanced structure, and an approachable style that still offers a hint of complexity.
Food Pairings
Thanks to its freshness and medium body, this rosé is quite versatile with food, complementing a range of lighter dishes.
Recommended pairings include:
- Grilled salmon or tuna – The wine’s crisp acidity and fruity core pair well with the rich flavors of seared or grilled salmon and tuna medallions.
- Poultry salads (e.g. chicken or turkey salad) – Its red-fruit notes and moderate weight complement lean white meats and fresh salads, making it a fitting companion to entrée salads.
- Charcuterie & snacks – Try it with sweet-salty appetizers like melon wrapped in prosciutto, or with briny bites such as olives with crackers. The rosé’s vibrant acidity and fruitiness help cleanse the palate and accentuate these flavors.
- Vegetarian dishes – The wine also pairs nicely with hummus or grain-based salads (like bulgur or couscous salads). These mild, earthy flavors are lifted by the wine’s freshness and fruit, showing the wine’s adaptability to plant-based fare.
