The label
The label design draws inspiration from ancient symbols of the Cucuteni culture — the symbols of Harvest, Hills, and Protection. These three interwoven emblems reflect the deep connection between people, nature, and tradition. Beneath their shared meaning lies wine itself, a timeless centerpiece of the region’s history and cultural identity.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Clear straw-yellow color with subtle greenish reflections. The wine is bright and clean, indicating a youthful freshness.
Nose
On the nose it offers a fresh, crisp bouquet with a broad spectrum of aromas. Expect green apple and pear upfront, accompanied by zesty grapefruit and lemon notes. There are delicate floral tones of elderflower and acacia blossom, hints of white peach and ripe gooseberry, and a subtle wet stone minerality underlying the fruit. These combined aromas give the wine an aromatic profile that is both fruity and lightly herbal (a faint grassy character), true to the Aligoté variety’s refreshing nature.
Palate
The palate is dry yet vibrant, with flavors of green apple and citrus (lemon/grapefruit) leading the way. It has a bright acidity – typical of Husi – balanced by a gentle fruit sweetness on the mid-palate. Despite having super-low residual sugar, the ripe fruit gives an illusion of slight sweetness, lending a rounded, soft texture to the mouthfeel. A pronounced minerality (stony, saline notes) comes through, reflecting the vineyard’s soil. The finish is lengthy, marked by a honeyed peach note lingering on the back palate, and it ends on a subtly bitter twist (a gentle almond or herbal bitters nuance) that adds complexity and refreshment. Overall the wine’s style is clean and balanced, with the high acidity and moderate alcohol.
Food Pairings
Thanks to its crisp acidity and medium body, Nativus Aligoté 2024 is a highly versatile food wine. It shines with light, delicate dishes as well as some richer fare.
Notable pairings include:
- Cured or Light Meats: Cured ham like prosciutto or lean pork cuts, which the wine’s acidity can cut through.
- Poultry: Simple preparations of chicken (e.g. steamed chicken or lightly seasoned grilled chicken). It also works surprisingly well with flavorful Asian-inspired poultry dishes such as bang bang chicken or Japanese-style fried chicken (karaage), the wine cleansing the palate after each bite.
- Salads & Cheeses: Fresh green salads topped with creamy or goat cheese (e.g. a chèvre salad). The wine’s citrus and mineral notes complement tangy cheeses and vinaigrettes.
- Seafood & Fish: A natural match for seafood — from raw preparations like sashimi and sushi to cooked dishes. Try it with lightly fried seafood (shrimp tempura or fried oysters), grilled white fish, or Italian-style fish dishes like acqua pazza; the wine’s lemony acidity and subtle salinity accentuate the ocean flavors.
- Pasta & Vegetarian: Thanks to its herbal and stone-fruit notes, it can pair with light pasta in herb sauces, vegetable risottos, or dishes featuring spring greens.
