Introductory notes
This wine is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful expressions of the Fetească Neagră grape variety I have encountered in the last 15 years. From the explosion of intense aromas on the nose to the complexity on the palate, it amazes me with every tasting. I highly recommend it to wine enthusiasts. It has a high aging potential.
The label reveals a quote from the poet Ovid, Metamorphoses Book IV, which also gives the collection its name.
Tasting notes
- Appearance
Deep ruby color with garnet hues. - Nose
The nose is exceptionally rich and intense, with aromas of black currants, plum jam, blackberries, sour cherries, cloves, cocoa, black pepper, and eucalyptus. - Palate
Once introduced into the mouth, it provokes an explosion of spices, ripe black fruits, complemented by hints of cocoa and vanilla. We are dealing with a full-bodied, complex, and well-balanced wine. The rich taste reminds of well-ripened fruits. The robust tannins blend perfectly with the other structural elements, resulting in a smooth, velvety texture. The finish is long-lasting, leaving behind subtle notes of dark chocolate. - Food pairing
It pairs wonderfully with roasted lamb, beef with red wine sauce, pasta with black truffles, aged cheeses, sarmale, varză a la Cluj.

Terroir and grapes
- Ingredients: grapes 100%
- Historical region: Muntenia
- Wine region: Dealurile Munteniei
- Podgorie: Dealu Mare
- Commune: Vadu Săpat
- Village: Ungureni
- Vineyard owner: Vitis Metamorfosis
- Harvesting: manual; in the middle of September; the grapes were carefully sorted to ensure the highest possible quality.
- Weather in the year of harvest: the year 2019 started with a mild winter, with temperatures quite high for that season, reaching maximum values of up to 15°C. The generous snowfalls in January compensated for the reduced precipitation in February, March, and April. These climatic factors slightly accelerated the vine's vegetation. The Dealu Mare vineyard was hit by hail towards the end of spring. This factor had a major impact on the plantations, halving the harvest. The grapes enjoyed access to more mineral, physico-chemical resources, and high sugar content. The temperatures during the summer and autumn period were within the normal values of recent years, and the precipitation throughout the year reached 646 mm.
- Vineyard manager: Fiorenzo RISTA.
