Caii de la Letea, Volume 1

The wine Caii de la Letea comes from Sarica-Niculițel, the oldest and one of the most valuable vineyards in Dobrogea. Here, grapevine cultivation has a millennia-old tradition.

While traditional viticulture methods and grape selection have been largely preserved, the winery's oenologists demonstrate their expertise by skillfully incorporating new winemaking technologies. This approach not only preserves the essence of the wine but also highlights the specific terroir characteristics, ensuring a unique and high-quality product.

Volume 1 is also called "Vigoare" (Vigor). Like the horses living freely under the scorching sun of Dobrogea, the wine is young and vigorous, reminding us of the spiritedness of the horses from Letea.

The grape

In Romania, in addition to the commonly known grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, there are also many ancient indigenous grape varieties that have been cultivated for centuries. Among them, one of the most highly regarded is the Fetească Neagră variety. It is often considered the flagship black grape variety of Romania and is grown in a wide range of regions, from cool climates to warmer ones.

Fetească Neagră is a versatile grape variety that can be used to produce a variety of wines, ranging from fresh and easy-drinking rosés to concentrated and full-bodied red wines.

The "Caii de la Letea Volumul 1 Feteasca Neagra 2021" does an excellent job of capturing the true character of this grape variety. It is a must-try wine for anyone looking to explore the wines of the Black Sea coast.
