Introductory notes
According to Roman mythology, the Column of Hercules was built by Hercules himself near the Strait of Gibraltar. The Pillars of Hercules marked the end of the known world at the time. The words "Nec Plus Ultra" were inscribed on the pillars, meaning "nothing ahead" or "no more," serving as a warning to sailors not to venture further. Jidvei's winemakers have adopted this motto for their wine series, "Nec Plus Ultra," dedicating years of hard work to create wines worthy of this title. Enjoy the results.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Transparent lemon-yellow color.
Nose
The fragrance is rich and refined, evoking images of "green" and "blue." The scent has a sharp New World style, with dominant notes of tomato leaves, basil, asparagus, and freshly cut grass. Mixed within are floral and citrus elements like acacia flowers, lime, and grapefruit, offering a fun and complex aroma.
Palate
Though demi-sec (medium-dry), it retains a solid acidity. Despite expecting a sharper taste based on the aroma, the balance between acidity and fruit is excellent, with a smooth texture that makes for an easy-drinking wine. The residual sugar is balanced by the acidity, creating a soft, gentle finish. The palate features fresh fruit with moderate herbal tones, and the finish is pleasant and refreshing.

This wine pairs well with tempura, shrimp and asparagus salad, Chinese-style salt-fried squid, rape blossoms, raw oysters, fried oysters, and fried salmon.
