A wine made from a single grape variety is called a “single-variety wine,” and a wine made from a combination of two or more grape varieties is called a “blend wine.”

Blend wines are also known as mixed wines, assemblage, or coupage.

All the wines recommended in STEP 1 and STEP 2 are single-variety. In STEP 3, I would like you to try a few blended wines.

The idea behind a blend is to create a balanced and/or complex wine that is difficult to achieve with a single-grape variety.

This is not an easy task, and the winemaker has to make careful decisions when it comes to the varieties as well as the proportions of each variety.
