Introductory notes
This wine beautifully showcases the character of Fetească Neagră. It's a confident recommendation for anyone eager to discover this remarkable Romanian variety. With excellent quality for its price, it stands out in its category.
Aging in small oak barrels adds layers of complexity and elegance while preserving the grape's authentic expression.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Ruby-red.
Nose
Inviting aromas of black cherries, dried plums, blackberry jam, and ripe blackcurrants lead the way. Subtle notes of pine, vanilla, and a hint of oak smoke follow. As the wine opens up, additional layers of bitter chocolate, caramel, and a touch of iron unfold—creating a surprisingly complex nose for its price point.
Palate
Smoother tannins than on the first day, with a silkier texture. Flavors of sour cherry and clove become more pronounced, lending warmth and charm.
Food pairing
Excellent with roasted pork, cold cuts, cabbage rolls, hamburgers, beef teppanyaki, sansho teriyaki, and steamed amberjack marinated in miso.
