Tasting notes
- Appearance
Gorgeous, deep ruby color. - Nose
The rich aroma shows the wine's depth: black cherry, plum, and black currant with a touch of spice. - Palate
This wine's overall taste is firm. It has a medium body and is rich in tannins, but it also has the suppleness typical of Feteasca Neagra. The flavors of ripe black fruits and aging in wooden barrels are reminiscent of fine Bordeaux wines. The wine is rich in tannins, but there is no over-the-top astringency. The medium acidity integrates very well with the other elements and creates an elegant balance. It still feels youthful, and the fruit flavors have the leading role, but you can also feel the flavors derived from barrel maturing, such as vanilla, in the background. It has a very creamy, enjoyable texture. With a little more time, the oak elements and fruit will integrate more, resulting in a higher-value wine with an even better balance. - Food pairing
It pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses, roasted lamb, bolognese, and rich mushroom dishes.
