About the winery
Ferreri is a family winery in Gibellina, in the province of Trapani, western Sicily. It was founded in 2003 to carry forward the work of the founders' fathers — winemakers for fifty years. The estate sits at 290 m beside a nature reserve, halfway between the ancient Greek sites of Selinunte and Segesta.
"Le Sette Vigne" means "the seven vineyards": the winery's signature line, each wine a 100% single variety expressing one parcel of western Sicily.
What is Catarratto?
Catarratto is Sicily's most planted white grape, once known mainly as the base of Marsala. Today it is enjoying a well-deserved revival as a fresh, dry white — citrus, Mediterranean herbs and a gentle saline touch.
DOC Sicilia, created in 2011, is the island-wide appellation championing Sicily's native varieties.
Why choose this wine?
From the Contrada Buturro vineyard at 250 m in Santa Ninfa, on clay-limestone soils, vinified fresh in stainless steel. Beautifully balanced, never tiring, and a natural partner for seafood — the taste of Sicilian sunshine at an everyday price.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Fresh yellow with green highlights.
Nose
Fresh pear and grapefruit, with a whisper of Mediterranean herbs behind. The kind of nose that makes you breathe in slowly.
Palate
Fresh fruit first, then a gentle saline note chasing it. Acidity and fruit in fine balance, with a surprisingly long finish. An easy, uplifting dry white.
Food pairing
The producer's own suggestion: mussel gratin. Also lovely with carpaccio, grilled white fish, tempura and sushi — seafood across the board.
