Introductory notes

We have never actively dealt with orange wines at Daniel's Wine Club, and simply recognizing them as wine has been relatively rare. Well, Fleur Royale from Histria Winery is an exception.

It is an exceptionally complex and rich wine with aromas of damask rose, apricot, cardamom, and ripe honey. It beautifully represents the terroir of the Dobrogea, making it a flagship wine for this region.

It's a completely organic and additive-free wine fermented with wild yeast. With a yield of less than 3 tons per hectare, the grapes are meticulously hand-picked and sorted, ensuring quality at every step.

It has received excellent domestic and international reviews, winning a Double Gold at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Competition.

This is a must-try for any fan of orange wines.

My wines speak of the vine. Fermented solely with wild yeast, without oenological interventions, my aim is to showcase the full potential of the terroir. This is why the label proudly displays 'Terroir de Dobrogea.’

Tasting notes

  • Appearance
    A radiant, deep gold color.
  • Nose
The aroma is very intense and rich. Notes of orange blossom, straw, hay, Damask rose, apricot, candied grapes, candied orange peel, quince, cardamom, barley tea, and mature honey are present, with hints of nuts and caramel. There is also a firm mineral presence, with flint and wet stone nuances.
  • Palate
The taste is vibrant, with a balanced acidity and vegetal notes, resulting in an elegant finish. It exhibits orange peel, apricot, and beeswax flavors, with a rich mineral character derived from the limestone soil. The acidity and fruitiness are harmoniously integrated, with a subtle sweetness adding to its pleasant drinkability. There are subtle nuances of yeast and wheat in the mouthfeel. While it is made with wild yeast, it offers a soft, smooth drinking experience without sharp edges. It maintains an elegant profile, with a subtle elegance that conceals the distinctive assertiveness often found in natural wines.
  • Food pairing
It pairs well with herb-infused chicken or fatty fish dishes, goulash (Hungarian cuisine), cheese and mushroom omelets, and tapas.
