果皮が厚く、色の濃い黒葡萄。タンニンを多く含む。
フルボディのワインが多い。黒い果実だけでなく、赤い果実のアロマを持つことが特徴。
アゼルバイジャンでは辛口、甘口、酒精強化ワインの生産に使用。
